more from my house

Taking a bit of time off from photographing sessions and being on somewhat of a maternity leave allowed me to focus on my house and put up some art on our own walls.  I put up a blog post a while ago showing off a wonderful 30×30 canvas I have from our own family session last fall.  Well, it just wasn’t “big” and “wow” enough on the wall alone so I added to it!  Now there is a 30×30 canvas with two 14×14 canvases next to it.  We have already booked our next family session for this coming October and I can’t wait to add to and move around the canvases, incorporating newer images after each session (oh yes, there will be many more family sessions!). That is the wonderful thing about canvases, especially a grouping of smaller or different sizes, you can easily update one or two at a time and move them around the house.  This is now what our dining room wall looks like:

While we are on the subject of canvases I am SO EXCITED about the gorgeous one hanging in our baby’s room.  When I did her newborn pictures I kept in mind the colors of her bedroom–which are far from the “traditional” girl colors. Her walls are a light gray-blue and orange is the main accent color with a moss green and light brown.  Before I even gave birth to her I knew that I wanted to do a canvas with one of the Larger than Life layouts.  Ta-da!  Here it is, a 26×36 canvas proudly displayed above her crib.

Note: the first image is a great example of how to mix canvases and frames in the same room. I wanted to incorporate her sisters and my husband and I so I used black frames to create a small collection on the adjoining wall.
